Oakland University Center for Autism (OUCARES) integrates academic course work, knowledge and research with hands-on work in the community to prepare professionals to be leaders in the autism community. Through these academic and service programs, Oakland University also provides supportive individual and family programs. OUCARES, housed in the School of Education and Human Services, encourages the exchange of ideas relating to the education and support of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and provides services and support needed to improve daily living for people with Autism. The goal of OUCARES is to promote understanding and awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through educational and support services and to improve quality of life for people impacted by ASD. We serve educators, caregivers and professionals who serve people with ASD. Likewise, we serve the community by providing information, awareness and inclusion opportunities. Finally, we serve all individuals impacted by ASD including the individual with ASD, parents, siblings, grandparents and extended family members.
